A "Journal of Paintings" by Jon Conkey,
Themeworks was a "one-year-long" record of my progress in the art of "oil painting", and an attempt to paint 365 paintings in one year. Changing the monthly theme allowed me to focus on subjects I may not have otherwise painted. As an artist, I was looking for discovery and breakthroughs in my works through this daily practice.
Painting musicians is great for a number of reasons, one, they sit still, two, it sounds nice, and three, instruments are hard to draw due to their curves and foreshortening. Oil on linen 7.00" x 11.00" $email@example.com.
Las Vegas New Mexico is a town so old it qualifies for being ancient, (way older than the USA), with it's many stone and brick buildings it is definitely a throw-back to a different era. Oil 6.50" x 9.00" SOLDj@jonconkey.com.
Yeah, it's pretty alright... but that is a volcano, and it is bulging. On the other side of this mountain to the south is Sonoma County, the road passing by this lake used to be known as the "Tahoe Hwy", this lake was resort movie star hangout in the 40's. Oil 6.50" x 9.00" $200. firstname.lastname@example.org
Many of these paintings are merely attempts at difficult subjects...at least for me, in the hopes I may lose any intimidation when approaching works I don't fully understand. Oil 4.25" x 6.50" SOLDj@jonconkey.com
