A "Journal of Paintings" by Jon Conkey, Themeworks was a "one-year-long" record of my progress in the art of "oil painting", and an attempt to paint 365 paintings in one year. Changing the monthly theme allowed me to focus on subjects I may not have otherwise painted. As an artist, I was looking for discovery and breakthroughs in my works through this daily practice.

# 182 Victoria Beach Sunset
This beach is a favorite skimboard spot in Laguna Beach, the tower has a spiral staircase inside of it, and has been a landmark at least since the 70's, it is one of many interesting places in this town to see; but require local knowledge to find. Oil on Linen 7.00" x 16.00". JLC

What a cool place! I like this one because it really makes you think and wonder about that tower.
Hi Leslie! Someone was very creative in that project; for sure!
OMG! I honestly was just thinking about this castle TODAY! I went there with some guy. He played guitar and sang while I drew a pix of this. I gave him the drawing. He later betrayed me and never saw the drawing or him again. This was 20 years ago. I seriously was remembering this moment only 2 hours ago today. COSMIC! You did a lovely job too!
Thanks Saffron, Great story! Too bad about the gypsy guitarist, hope the memory doesn't spoil that special spot for you. 20 years ago in Laguna Beach, the hills and ocean were alive around there, it was a very special time. Cheers!
