It's lovely Jon Conkey, and I am curious what made you paint this one?

By the way thanks for your kind comments in Karl Zipser’s blog that made me feel much better specially coming from a great artist like yourself.

Hi Angela, Thought I lost your comment, glad it went through. I painted this one because the skier was such a hit (snow scene). And Michael Beeman had done a rooster a while back and I liked the idea.
Thanks for your fine compliment!

Pilan, I am just below the Colorado border, they had just closed the I-25 due to blizzard conditions, while California was burning up. The snow does not last long here though, it is gone the second the sun comes out. Cheers

Hi Grainne, I am always afraid I am going to run over one at my neighbors farm ( they are always running in front of the car), the roosters don't seem to fear anything. I have a special place in my heart their pomp and attitude. Gotta say how impressed I am with your paintings!

Thanks Mike!

Hi Louis, Everyone likes these chickens! I chose them because the snow seemed to make them "pop out", (I like the way the rooster seems to be showing off to the hens). I really like the colors in this piece, and will try to remember them for future paintings.

This is really nice-- I love these chickens. Good work! To me, this has a feel reminiscient of some of the art from early last century... there's a certain warmth, hominess and classic essence to it. I like it.

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your insights! Funny you should say, "reminiscient of some of the art from early last century"; because where I live, folks still live like they did in the 1800's. In fact, Mora is over 2000 years old as a settlement, (it has been described as the furthest you can be from the United States, and still live in the United States.
